Symptoms
When you try to install Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Microsoft SQL Server 2014, the sqlagent100_msdb_upgrade.sql upgrading script fails, and you receive the following error messages:
Granting login access LoginName to msdb database...
A problem was encountered granting access to MSDB database for login '(null)'. Make sure this login is provisioned with SQLServer and rerun sqlagent_msdb_upgrade.sql
Adding user UserName to SQLAgentUserRole msdb role...

Resolution
This problem is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:
Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. Check out the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
