Symptoms

When you install Cumulative Update (CU) for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2016, the installation fails because FeaturePackChecker.exe crashes if any unrelated .msi file is missing or corrupted.

In order to do that, a component of the installer which name is FeaturePackChecker, enumerates Windows Installer entries (known as MSI) on a given machine and reads MSI file information to identify if Feature Pack is installed. When any MSI on the machine is missing or corrupted, an unhandled exception causes the crash.
