Personalize your group chat image in Microsoft Teams

Make your group chat stand out by customizing the image. Upload your own image, or choose from a gallery of illustrations and emojis.

Notes:

  • Imaged can be added, changed, or removed on Desktop or Web.

  1. Select Chat Teams Chat Tab icon on the left side of Teams, and click the group chat you’d like to personalize.

  2. Above the chat, hover over the profile picture to the left of the group's name to select Change profile picture.

  3. A new window will open with the option to upload your own image or choose a pre-set illustration, or an emoji.

  4. If choosing an illustration or emoji, simply find the one you want, and select Save.

  5. If you’d like to use your own image, select Upload Upload icon, find the image in your files, then select Save.

  6. To edit the image again, or to return to the default image, repeat the steps to select the default or a different image.

Notes:

  • Maximum size for photo upload is 4MB.

  • Images are currently not supported in meeting chats or 1:1 chats.

  • Muted group chats will show the mute icon instead of the group chat image.
