SUMMARY

This article describes how to cause Internet Mail to not download messages over a specified size from your Internet mail server.

MORE INFORMATION

To limit the size of messages downloaded from your Internet mail server, follow these steps:

  1. Start Internet Mail, and then click Options on the Mail menu.
  2. Click the Server tab, and then click Advanced Settings.
  3. Click the following check boxes to select them:
    • "Do not download messages over <x> KB"
    • "Leave a copy of messages on server"
    • "Remove from server after <x> days"

NOTE: Some service providers limit the number of messages that can be stored on the server, or do not allow you to save messages on the server. If you clear this check box, your server may automatically remove messages after a certain period of time or when you exceed your limit.
    • Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'"
  4. Adjust the values for "Do not download messages over <x> KB" and "Remove from server after <x> days." The minimum setting for "Remove from server after <x> days" is one day.
  5. Click OK, and then click OK.
