SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to run Microsoft Exchange Forms Designer after installing the Microsoft Exchange Windows 3.x client, an error message similar to the following may appear:

EFD caused a general protection fault in module VB40016.DLL at
<xxxx:xxxxxxxx>.

where <xxxx:xxxxxxxx> is series of hexadecimal digits. In addition, if you attempt to use a form that was created with Microsoft Exchange Forms Designer after installing the Microsoft Exchange Windows 3.x client, an error message similar to the following may appear:

FORM.EXE caused a general protection fault in module VB40016.DLL at
<xxxx:xxxxxxxx>.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft Exchange Windows 3.x client version 5.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0. For information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
