SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to run Microsoft Exchange Forms Designer after installing the Microsoft Exchange Windows 3.x client, an error message similar to the following may appear:
EFD caused a general protection fault in module VB40016.DLL at
<xxxx:xxxxxxxx>.
where <xxxx:xxxxxxxx> is series of hexadecimal digits. In addition, if you attempt to use a form that was created with Microsoft Exchange Forms Designer after installing the Microsoft Exchange Windows 3.x client, an error message similar to the following may appear:
FORM.EXE caused a general protection fault in module VB40016.DLL at
<xxxx:xxxxxxxx>.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft Exchange Windows 3.x client version 5.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.0.
