SYMPTOMS

When you try to use Help in programs and system tools that are included with Windows 98, such as Wordpad, Notepad, Net Watcher, or Paint, you may receive one of the following error messages:

HH caused an invalid page fault in module HHCTRL.OCX at <address>

MSPAINT caused an invalid page fault in module HHCTRL.OCX at <address>

After you close the error message you may receive the following error message:
Hard Disk is Full
You have run out of disk space on drive C.
To free space on this drive by deleting old or unnecessary files, click Disk Cleanup.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using the Windows swap file and there is not sufficient free disk space on the drive.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, uninstall programs you do not use and use the Disk Cleanup tool. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Double-click My Computer, right-click the hard disk you want to clean, click Properties, and then click Disk Cleanup.
  2. Under Files To Delete, click to select all the appropriate check boxes for the items you want to delete, click OK, click Yes, and then click OK.
