SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Internet Explorer version 4.01 or 4.01 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may receive the following error message:

An error occurred loading C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\Msimnui.dll. The file may not have been installed or it has been corrupted.

Once Internet Explorer is installed and you attempt to start Outlook Express, you may receive the following error message:

Unable to start program. One of the required components may be busy or missing. Please check your installation and try again.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if either of the following situations exists:

You install Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2 (SP2), uninstall it, and then install Internet Explorer 4.01.
You install Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1 (SP1), uninstall it, and then install Internet Explorer 4.01.
