SYMPTOMS

When your computer goes into Standby mode, all active Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections may be disconnected.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you manually put your computer into Standby mode. Your computer does not automatically go into Standby mode when there is an active VPN connection.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.

If your computer is configured as a local area network (LAN) router, it never goes into Standby mode.
