Cannot Install Windows 2000 Using Remote Installation Service

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Windows 2000 from a network share using the Remote Installation service of Windows 2000, you may receive the following error message:
The network server does not support booting Windows 2000. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the system has an integrated Intel network adapter with a BOOT Read Only Memory (ROM) code version .99c or earlier.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact your computer manufacturer to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue.
