Client-Side Caching Shares Not Available for Offline Use Through a Terminal Services Session

On a computer running Windows 2000 Server with Terminal Services enabled, files and folders marked for offline use (client-side caching) are not available from within a Terminal Services session or from the server console.

Client-side caching is intended to be used by a single user from a single computer, or by multiple users sharing a single computer. It is not designed for use by multiple users simultaneously connecting from the same computer, as in a Terminal Services environment.

This behavior is by design.

Shares configured for offline use can exist on a Windows 2000 server with Terminal Services enabled. Users who connect by using a mapped drive from a Windows 2000-based computer can use client-side caching, but users connecting with a Terminal Services session cannot use this feature.
