Cannot Use Two ATI RAGE 128 Video Adapters with Multiple Monitors

When you start a Windows 2000-based computer that contains multiple ATI Rage 128 video adapters, only one of the adapters may be used. The other adapter may be listed as disabled in Device Manager, with a status of either Code 10 or Code 31.

This behavior can occur if you install two ATI Rage 128 video adapters (such as the All-in-Wonder 128) at the same time, and allow Windows to detect them simultaneously.

To work around this behavior:

1. Install the video adapters one at a time. Start the computer with only one of the adapters installed, and then configure that adapter.
2. After the primary adapter is configured, turn off the computer, and then install the secondary adapter.
3. Start Windows. Windows detects the second adapter.
4. Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.
5. On the Settings tab, click the secondary monitor, and then click to select the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor check box.
6. Click OK.
