SYMPTOMS

When you run the Windows 98 Second Edition Setup program, you may receive the following general protection fault error message:

MNMSRVC caused an invalid page fault in module MST120.DLL

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you start Microsoft NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing (RDS) before you start the Windows Setup program.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, disable RDS before you start the Windows Setup program:

On the desktop of the computer to which you are trying to gain access, click Start, and then click Log Off or Shut Down.
Follow the instructions on the screen to log off or shut down.
