XADM: Exchange 2000 Setup Does Not Work if the Mdbdata Folder Is Not Empty

SYMPTOMS

During the installation of Exchange 2000 Server, you may receive an error message that says:
Prerequisite Conditions are not satisfied. Mdbdata directory must be empty in order to install Exchange 2000.

CAUSE

Exchange 2000 was previously installed on this computer and later removed, but the files in the Mdbdata folder were not deleted.

WORKAROUND

Manually delete the data files under the Exchsrvr\Mdbdata folder, remove the folders, and then run Setup again.

This behavior is by design.
