SUMMARY

If Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is fully configured on your computer, the computer cannot enter Standby or Hibernation mode. This behavior occurs whether or not ICS is currently in use. When the computer attempts to enter Standby or Hibernation mode, you may receive the following message:

Because your computer is configured for Internet Connection Sharing, Windows cannot put it on Standby or Hibernation. If the computer goes on standby or hibernates, the other computers on your home network will lose their Internet connection. For more information, click Help.

MORE INFORMATION

ICS prevents these forms of power management to maintain connectivity for ICS clients at all times.

Note that the Turn off monitor and Turn off hard disks power management options do work correctly with ICS installed.
