FP2000: Error Message After You Install FrontPage 2000 Extensions

SYMPTOMS

After you install the Microsoft FrontPage 2000 server extensions, and you attempt to start the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) manager, you may receive an error message similar to the following
Inetmgr.exe exception access violation
0xc0000005 0x780015d5.
and the IIS manager does not start.

When you start the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), you may receive messages stating that you are using an older version of Internet Explorer.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using a version of Internet Explorer earlier than version 4.01.

The FrontPage 2000 extensions require Internet Explorer version 4.01 or newer for everything to function as expected.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade Internet Explorer to version 4.01 or later.
