SUMMARY

When you open a Microsoft Works Word Processor (*.wps) document in Microsoft Word, and then save the document as a Word (*.doc) document without making any changes to it, the file size increases. For example, a Works Word Processor document containing the sentence
I am testing this document to see how large it is.
is 6 kilobytes (KB) in size as a .wps file, but it is 19 KB in size when opened in Word and saved as a .doc file.

If you then save the document as a Works Word Processor document, it reverts to its original file size.

MORE INFORMATION

Because the Works color palette is not as large as the Word color palette, color shades may also be changed when a Works Word Processor document is opened in Word and saved as a Works Word Processor document.
