Article ID: 284550 - Last Review: January 15, 2006 - Revision: 1.2 Error Message: Cache Initialization FailureThis article was previously published under Q284550 SYMPTOMS
After you install Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server, the following errors are logged in the ISA Server Management Console:
Cache initialization failure Cache container initialization error CAUSE
This problem can occur if ISA Server is installed on a partition, and then all of the available free space in that partition is selected for the cache. Because your computer needs to allocate space for the installation of ISA Server, the amount of disk space available for the cache is going to decrease. ISA Server Setup can finish successfully, but the preceding errors can be displayed in the ISA Server Management Console. ISA Server checks the amount of disk space available for the cache before ISA Server is installed, but ISA Server does not take into consideration the amount of space that is required for its own installation. RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, reconfigure the cache size after the installation of ISA Server.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
