The Remote Installation Services Setup May Hang When You Load the Setup.ini File

SYMPTOMS

When you set up a client computer by means of Remote Installation Services (RIS), the client may hang during the textmode portion of Setup, and you may receive the following message:
Loading information file Setup.ini...

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the RIS server has an extended character in its computer name, for example, a German language specific character.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, remove the extended character from the computer name of the RIS server.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
