Terminal Services License Database Size Increases

SYMPTOMS

If the following conditions exist, the Terminal Services license database may continuously increase, and you may receive an "Event ID 43: Work Manager error can't create work item, error code 87" entry in the Event log:

The Terminal Services licensing server for the entire domain is taken offline for maintenance, and another temporary server is brought online for a long period of time.
The original Terminal Services licensing server is brought back online, and the temporary server is removed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.

This problem has been reported to create an increase of the database size of as much as 100 megabytes in 3 weeks.
