This article was previously published under Q328592 SYMPTOMS After you install the hotfix for Internet Explorer that is
described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article Q323686, or after you install the
August 22, 2002, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer, an access violation
may occur in Internet Explorer. The access violation occurs when Internet
Explorer runs dynamic Hypertext Markup Language (DHTML) script to work with
tables and cell data. CAUSE The access violation occurs because of a problem in the
Internet Explorer hotfix in Knowledge Base article Q323686. This hotfix is
included in the August 22, 2002, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer.
If insertRow is called two times with a default value of "-1" the new rows have no cells. Therefore, the next call to insertCell causes the access violation. RESOLUTIONWARNING: The August 22, 2002, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer must
be installed before you apply this update. A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix. If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
