SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade the Zune software on your computer, you notice that music in your collection that was previously categorized correctly is now associated with incorrect album titles.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when music files become associated with the incorrect album art or with other metadata information during the upgrade process from an earlier version of the Zune software.

THINGS TO TRY

To resolve this issue, you will need to run the Zune Media Collection Reset tool. The reset tool will reset the current state of your Zune media library. The tool will not affect any non-Zune-related files or settings on your system.
  1. Download the reset tool from the following Microsoft Web site:
    http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=105882 (http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=105882)
  2. Run the reset tool.
  3. Follow the wizard.
  4. Reopen the Zune software. The Zune software will need to add your collection back into your library. Depending on the size of your library, this may take anywhere from a few minutes up to an hour.
