SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install a Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr) 2007 client on a computer that is running a Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system.
  • You perform Asset Intelligence inventory on this client.
In this scenario, Asset Intelligence does not collect the SMS_InstalledSoftwareMS reporting class on the client that is running the Windows 2000 operating system.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, a System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) site server must be installed.

Installation instructions

 Install this hotfix on the ConfigMgr 2007 SP2 site server, and then deploy the package to the clients that are running Windows 2000 operating systems.

Note The following hotfix package can be installed on an ConfigMgr 2007 SP2 site server that is running an x86-based version of an operating system or an x64-based version of an operating system:
SCCM2007-SP2-KB980488-X86-ENU.msi

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace a previously released hotfix.
