Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You run a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services (SSIS 2008) or a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Integration Services (SSIS 2008 R2) package.
-
The SSIS package contains a data flow task.
-
The data flow task contains a multicast transformation that directs the data into two flows. One of the flows is a read-only flow, and the other is read/write flow.
-
One of the flows meets the following conditions:
-
Has a derived column transformation generates a new derived column that is based on the original column in the source.
-
The transformation directs the output flow to another derived transformation that replaces the original column as the new column.
-
The transformation directs the output flow to the destination that references the derived column and to the new column that replace the original column.
-
-
The other flow directs the source column to a destination that references the original column.
In this scenario, the derived column transformation may generate incorrect results.
Cause
This issue occurs because of an error in SSIS 2008 or SSIS 2008 R2.
