Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, or SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP3, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, or in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, a database recovery process is triggered by one of the following events:
-
The server is started.
-
The database is restored.
-
The database is attached to the server.
-
The database is recovered from a database snapshot.
In this scenario, you experience the following symptoms:
-
The database is not recovered completely.
-
The following deadlock error message is logged in the SQL Server error log file:
Deadlock monitor failed to resolve this deadlock. Server may require restart to recover from this condition.
-
A mini-dump file is generated in the SQL Server log folder.
