Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
On a computer that is running SQL Server 2008 R2, you create an Analysis Services project or a Report Model project in SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS).
-
In the project, you create a data source that uses the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse .NET Provider to connect to the Microsoft SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse.
-
You create a data source view that is based on the data source. Then, you try to create a named query.
In this scenario, the named query is not created.
When this problem occurs, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
Keyword not supported
Note The use of the .NET provider for SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse is supported only for Report Model projects. Analysis Services projects for the SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse should use the OLE DB provider instead.
Cause
The issue occurs because the SQL editor that is used to edit the named queries does not support the SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse version of the SQL language.
