Symptoms
This issue occurs in the following scenario:

You sign in to Microsoft Lync 2010 in an organization that has a proxy server deployed, and the proxy server only supports basic authentication.

A Lync 2010 user in a non-federated organization sends you an invitation for an online meeting.

You try to join the meeting. Note To join the meeting, you must access the Internet through the proxy server.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
2884632 Description of the cumulative update package for Lync 2010: October 2013
Cause
This issue occurs because Lync 2010 does not prompt the user to input credentials for the proxy server.
Workaround
To work around this issue, you must use a proxy server that supports NTLM authentication.
