Latest updates for versions of Office that use Windows Installer (MSI)

This article describes update KB2889941 for Microsoft Excel 2013 that was released on October 14, 2014. This update also applies to Office Home and Student 2013 RT, which contains Excel 2013.

Please be aware that the update in Download Center does not apply to Microsoft Office 365 editions such as Office 365 Home.

Improvements and Fixes

Improves the GetPivotData formula for PowerPivot data source so that it is case-insensitive in Excel 2013.

Fixes the following issue:

Assume that you have a Microsoft SharePoint list that contains some items that have long text strings. When you export data from the SharePoint list to Excel 2013, the import process takes much longer than expected. Specifically, Excel freezes temporarily while the status bar displays the "Adjusting Column Widths" text.

More Information

This update applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Excel 2013. It does not apply to the Excel 2013 Click-to-Run editions such as Microsoft Office 365 Home.

How to determine if my Office installation is Click-to-Run or MSI-based:

  1. Start Excel 2013.

  2. On the File menu, click Account.

  3. For Office 2013 Click-to-Run installations, an Update Options item is displayed. For MSI-based installations, the Update Options item is not displayed.
