This issue occurs when parallelism is allowed at server or query level.(Process ID 85) was deadlocked on thread | communication buffer resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.

Resolution

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.

Cumulative Update 10 for SQL Server 2012 SP1 /en-us/help/2954099
