Symptoms

Assume that you have a server that is running a Windows Server 2012 R2 Core installation. The logon UI crashes, and a black logon screen occurs for several seconds in one of the following scenarios:

  • You connect to the server by using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) from a client that has a different screen resolution.

  • You plug in another monitor to the server when the LogonUI.exe process is running.

  • You rotate the screen orientation for the server device.

Resolution
