Latest updates for versions of Office that use Windows Installer (MSI)

This article describes update KB3039700 for Microsoft Office 2013 that was released on May 12, 2015. This update also applies to Office Home and Student 2013 RT. This update has a prerequisite. Please be aware that the update in Download Center applies to Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2013. It does not apply to the Office 2013 Click-to-Run editions such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine?).

Improvements and Fixes

  • Improves Outlook 2013 to no longer be in the Disconnected status after you cancel a prompt of a modern authentication.

  • Improves title message for the following operations:

    • When you sign out your account from an Office 2013 application, no warning that you will be signed out from all Office 2013 applications is displayed.

    • When you enter the proxy credential for a proxy server, the title message indicates that the destination server is the proxy server.

  • Adds the Store button to the Home tab ribbon in Outlook 2013. Note To apply this improvement, see update adds the Store button to the Home tab ribbon in Outlook 2013 (KB3054849).

  • Hides the Apps chunk that contains the Store button on the Home tab ribbon when it is not supported in the current version of Outlook 2013.

  • Improves the translations of the Reply with Attachments application program interfaces (API) and the Store button in multiple languages in Outlook 2013 to make sure that the translations are accurate.

  • Improves translations of some terms related to Skype for Business in multiple languages to make sure that the translations are accurate.

  • Fixes the following issues:

    • Office Upload Center may crash when you try to restart Office 2013 Upload Center while it is running. This issue occurs on devices that have touch hardware installed.

    • Consider the following scenario:

      • You use the MAPI over HTTP transport protocol to connect to a mailbox on an on-premise Exchange server in Outlook 2013.

      • You use Outlook 2013 on a domain-joined computer.

      • You log on to the computer as a different domain user from the one who owns the mailbox.

In this scenario, you cannot connect to the mailbox in Outlook 2013. This issue occurs if one of the following conditions is true:

      • The Exchange server host name resolves to a private IP address.

      • The computer is configured to use a web proxy and the Exchange server host name is in the proxy bypass list.

    • When you add telephone numbers that contain spaces to a contact card in Outlook 2013 in which the display language is set to Hebrew, the telephone numbers are displayed right-to-left, which is unexpected.

    • When you exit Excel 2013, the related process (Excel.exe) remains for a while and system resource shortage occurs.

    • When you use the Send by Instant Message function to attach a copy of a document to an instant message in an Office 2013 application, the application may crash. This issue only occurs when you do not type anything in the Message text box before you send the instant message.

    • When you use accessibility shortcuts to execute command on the ribbons in Excel 2013, the performance is slow. This issue occurs if you have some active spreadsheets running concurrently.
