Summary
Microsoft SQL Server 2014 persists columnstore data as large object (LOB) data types. When columnstore data is read, it flows through a buffer pool to the columnstore object pool. The fix in this article changes the life cycle of these LOB pages within the buffer pool to improve memory availability to the columnstore object pool for improved query performance.The decreased memory availability to the columnstore object pool occurs because of a regression that occurs after you apply update 3029977.
