Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You create a PivotTable report in a Microsoft Excel workbook by importing data from Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services (SSAS 2014).
-
You upload the Excel workbook to a PowerPivot Gallery in SharePoint Server 2013.
-
You open the PowerPivot Gallery.
In this scenario, the Create Power View Report button in the upper-right corner of the Excel workbook is visible and enabled, even though the workbook does not contain a data model. Additionally, when you click the Create Power View Report, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred while loading the model for the item or data source "<path>"
Verify that the connection information is correct and that you have permissions to access the data source.Resolution
