Symptoms
A memory leak occurs when you query the sys.dm_sql_referenced_entities view in SQL Server 2014 or 2016. Eventually, the query fails, and you receive the following error message:
Msg 701, Level 17, State 123, Procedure procedure_name, Line 5 [Batch Start Line 4]
There is insufficient system memory in resource pool 'default' to run this query.
Resolution
This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:
Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2016 RTM
Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. Check out the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
