Symptoms
When you try to restart the service on an Edge Transport server that has Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 6 installed, the restart operation fails, and you receive the following error message:

Cause
This is a code issue.
Resolution
Important back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur. To work around this issue, follow these steps:
Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it,-
On the Edge Transport server, open Registry Editor.

Locate and then select the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\MSExchangeHM

Double-click the DependOnService registry entry, and then removeMSExchangeADTopology in the Value data box.

Restart the server.
