Applies ToLync 2010

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a telephone device that is running Microsoft Lync 2010 Phone Edition.

  • The device is powered by a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch that supports Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP).

  • You wake the device from the system idle power mode.

In this scenario, the device restarts.Note Whether the telephone device restarts depends on the PoE switch that is used.

Cause

This issue occurs because a device that uses LLDP requires a larger power value than the value that the PoE switch provides. Therefore, the device restarts to reset the port.
