Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You start Microsoft Word 2013 on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.

  • You set the font to Nirmala UI.

  • You copy and paste the following Telugu characters in the Word document: 
    గ్రి త్రా ప్రా క్రి డ్రి

In this scenario, the characters are displayed incorrectly as follows:

More specifically, the order of vowels for conjunct sequences that use both the prebase ra and a vowel matra are incorrect.

Cause

This issue occurs because the vowel matra blocks the reordering of ra.
