Symptoms
When you apply Cumulative Update 3 for Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager, upgrade scripts may be unsuccessful, and you may receive a message that states that not all database changes were applied.
Additionally, errors that resemble the following are logged in the Cumulative Update log file:Msg 242, level 16, State 3, procedure spImportInventoryReport, line 474
The conversion of a nvarchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.
Cause
This problem occurs because of the spImportInventoryReport stored procedure that is used by the Cumulative Update 3 upgrade process. The process includes an incorrect type conversion that may cause upgrade scripts to fail.
Resolution
To resolve this problem, apply the hotfix that is mentioned in the "More information" section. After you apply this hotfix, the Update.sql script that was included with Cumulative Update 3 should be manually applied to the affected primary site or central administration site. For more information, see the "Update a Site Database" section of Update System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. Note This problem can also affect installations of Cumulative Update 2. If the same symptoms occur, apply Cumulative Update 3 followed by this hotfix, and then manually apply the Cumulative Update 3 Update.sql script.
