Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a domain that has the Dynamic Access Control feature enabled in the Active Directory Administrative Center.

  • You have a domain-joined computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8, or Windows Server 2012.

  • A Microsoft Office document is located on a File Classification Infrastructure (FCI)-defined server.

  • You try to update and save the document through a slow network.

In this scenario, the document hangs for about one minute before it is saved. Subsequent save operations during the next eight hours do not experience any delay. However, there will be a delay every eight hours.

Cause

This problem occurs because the File Classification API is undergoing synchronization when Office applications perform save operations.
