Symptoms

Assume that you have a computer that is running Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. When you run the defrag command-line utility together with the /k parameter to perform slab consolidation on a specified volume, the operation is not completed.

Cause

This issue occurs because an ERROR_NOT_FOUND error cannot be recognized in the defrag utility when it tries to find a suitable slab to which it can move the designated data.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following update:

November 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2
Note After you apply this update rollup, USB debugger protocol is supported on full Intel® Atom™ Processor Z3700 series and N28xx/N29xx family series based or Cherry Trail-based computers when a USB 2.0 cable is plugged into a USB 3.0 port.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
