Latest updates for versions of Office that use Windows Installer (MSI)

Summary

This article describes update 3054853 for Microsoft Office 2013. This update was released on June 9, 2015, and it also applies to Office Home and Student 2013 RT. This update has a prerequisite.

Be aware that the update in Download Center applies to Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based editions of Office 2013. It does not apply to the Office 2013 Click-to-Run editions such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine).

Improvements and fixes

  • Translates some terms in multiple languages to make sure that their meanings are accurate for Office 2013 applications.

  • Disables the unnecessary dialog box that saves your user name and password when you sign in an Office 365 account that uses modern authentication.

  • Updates Outlook Social Connector to prevent it from loading incompatible providers.

  • Optimizes the number of network calls to open shared documents.

  • Adds lightweight Microsoft account support to Office applications with easy sign-up experience.

  • Lets administrators see how the organization consumes the Office 365 service in a dashboard view. This includes updates to the telemetry collection service to include unique identifiers, but not personal information. See the following articles for more information:

  • Fixes the following issues:

    • When you try to share a file that's saved on a SharePoint site by using the Invite People function in an Office 2013 application, you receive an error message if the file's URL contains Czech characters.

    • When you create an account that has an Active Directory Authentication Library (ADAL) identity and a Security Support Provider Interface (SSPI) identity in Outlook 2013, the Persistence property is not set to Enterprise in Credential Manager.

    • Assume that you have a mailbox in which the SMTP address does not match your Windows user principal name. When you configure an account profile on the Auto Account Setup page of the Add New Account Wizard in Outlook 2013, you are unexpectedly prompted for credentials.

    • When you use the Send by Instant Message function to send an instant message in an Office 2013 application, the URL that's included in the instance message does not contain a preferred browser-based URL.

    • When you start an Office 2013 application, the application crashes intermittently.

    • You can't use IRM features with an Azure RMS installation that has Directory Authentication Library (ADAL) enabled. Additionally, see the following articles:
