Applies ToSQL Server 2008 .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7.

  • You enable the FILESTREAM feature in SQL Server 2008.

  • You run an ADO.NET Framework application to remotely perform read or write operations on FILESTREAM data in SQL Server 2008.

  • You run these operations from a computer that is not running Windows Server 2008 R2 or not running Windows 7.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

Either a required impersonation level was not provided, or the provided impersonation level is invalid.

Note This problem does not occur when you run the same operations from a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or that is running Windows 7.

Prerequisites

You must have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 or Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you install the hotfix if the affected files are not being used.

The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
