SYMPTOMS

When you run a website that executes the Advertising pipeline on a server that is running Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 or Microsoft Commerce Server 2009, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
HttpContext.Current is null from Commerce.CSFLoadHistory.1

Additionally, an event that resembles the following is logged in the Application log:

Log Name: Application
Source: Commerce Server
Date: date time
Event ID: 4104
Description:
Pipeline Error: Component Execution failed for component[0x1] hr: 0x0
ProgID: Commerce.CSFLoadHistory.1
HttpContext.Current is null

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the LoadHistory, SaveHistory, and IISAppendToLog components check ASP.NET context. However, it is not necessary for these components to check ASP.NET context, and in some scenarios, this check may cause issues. The Advertising pipeline includes these three components. Therefore, this problem occurs.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply this hotfix to the server that is running Commerce Server 2007 or Commerce Server 2009.
