執行 Windows 7 或 Windows Server 2008 R2 的電腦上，您可能會遇到使用 DirectWrite API (例如 Windows Internet Explorer 9) 的應用程式效能變慢的問題。效能追蹤顯示每個應用程式都會載入所有可用的字型，而非依賴 FontCache 服務來呈現字型。
發生這個問題是因為，如果 FontCache 服務的反應時間太長，DirectWrite API 會開始直接從字型檔案中讀取字型資訊，並直接對其進行快取。
已知問題 重要 安裝 KB2505438 之後，使用 DirectWrite 來呈現文字的應用程式可能會發生錯誤，包括應用程式損毀。這是因為 Hotfix 套件不包含其他驅動程式的已更新版本。KB2454826 中所述的 Hotfix 套件包含此驅動程式的已更新版本。

說明 Microsoft 軟體更新的標準術語
FontCache 服務可管理系統快取，及電腦上每個使用者的個別使用者快取。電腦重新啟動時，DirectWrite API 會等候兩秒鐘，直到 FontCache 服務載入系統快取為止。一般來說，系統快取的大小為 400 到 600 KB。當用戶端處理程序第一次載入 DirectWrite API 時，DirectWrite API 會等候半秒鐘，直到 FontCache 服務載入個別使用者快取為止。
如果套用 DirectWrite API (例如 Internet Explorer 9) 的用戶端應用程式在電腦啟動之後立即啟動，任一個逾時項目都可能因為 Windows 正在執行其他許多同樣會耗用資源的的 I/O 作業而過期。例如，當 Internet Explorer 9 啟動時，FontCache 服務需要花 30 秒載入個別使用者快取。在這種情況下，DirectWrite API 不需存取共用字型快取就可直接讀取字型。這會使 Internet Explorer 9 的初始啟動程序變慢。此外，Internet Explorer 9 的工作集會大量增加，因為 DirectWrite API 會快取 Iexplorer.exe 處理程序記憶體空間中的字型。
