Symptoms

When you perform RetrieveMultiple queries on large datasets in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, you experience slow performance.

Cause

This problem occurs because large datasets cache the Microsoft SQL query plans for the RetrieveMultiple queries. The RetrieveMultiple optimization for the basic depth is required for the "local depth" read privilege and for the "deep depth" read privilege.

Resolution

If Update Rollup 8 or an earlier upudate rollup is installed, follow these steps to enable this hotfix on the computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM\

  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

  4. Name the newly created DWORD registry entry by typing EnableRetrieveMultipleOptimization.

  5. Right-click EnableRetrieveMultipleOptimization, and then click Modify.

  6. In the Value data box, type 2, and then click OK.

    Note The default value is 0.

  7. On the File menu, click Exit.
