FIX: Slow performance when you render a report that returns a long string of text in SSRS 2008 R2 if the text contains no carriage return characters

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You render a report in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services (SSRS 2008 R2).
  • The report contains a text box that returns a long string of text.
  • The text contains no carriage return characters.
In this scenario, slow performance may occur, and SSRS 2008 R2 requires a long time to render the report compared with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services (SSRS 2005) or with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services (SSRS 2008).

Note To check the time records, run a query for the TimeRendering column in the ExecutionLog table.
