Symptoms
You are developing a web-based solution by using Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Group Chat SDK APIs. When you try to create a GroupChatEndpoint object, you receive the following error message:
exePath must be specified when not running inside a stand alone exe
Cause
This issue occurs because the Lync Server 2010 Group Chat SDK API runtime tries to read the log settings from the app.config file instead of the web.config file.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
2603298 Update package for Lync 2010 Group Chat SDK: December 2011
After the update is applied, follow the documentation to pass the web.config file path to the GroupChatEndpoint object constructor.
