SYMPTOMS

Assume that you have an IEEE 1394-compatible device that communicates with a Windows 7-based or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer through an IEEE 1394 bus. However, the device does not work if the computer is not the IEEE 1394 bus manager.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because of an error in the Microsoft IEEE 1394 bus driver. When this error occurs, Windows never produces a write response packet for write requests that are initiated by other nodes on the IEEE 1394 bus.

  • The MANIFEST files (.manifest) and the MUM files (.mum) that are installed for each environment are listed separately in the "Additional file information for Windows Server 2008 R2 and for Windows 7" section. MUM and MANIFEST files, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are extremely important to maintain the state of the updated components. The security catalog files, for which the attributes are not listed, are signed with a Microsoft digital signature.
