SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a telephone that is running Microsoft Lync 2010 Phone Edition.
  • The telephone is powered by a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch that supports Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP).
  • You wake up the telephone from the system idle power mode.
In this scenario, the telephone restarts.

Note Whether the telephone restarts depends on the PoE switch that is used.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the telephones use LLDP to require a larger power value than the power value that is given by the PoE switch. Therefore, the telephone restarts to reset the port.
