FIX: Error message when you run a query that uses an MDX reserved keyword as a parameter name in SSAS 2008 R2

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) fixes in one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) update release.

Consider the following scenario:

• You use an MDX reserved keyword as a parameter name in an MDX query in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2).
  For example, you use '@Date' as a parameter in the query:
  
  

  SELECT STRTOMEMBER(@Date) ON 0 FROM [CubeName]

• You try to run the query.

In this scenario, you receive an error message that resembles the following:Note This issue occurs with all kinds of SSAS queries. This includes MDX, DAX, and DMX queries.

The fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 4.
