SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • In a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based image, you disable the Enable access to desktop files setting under the KITL settings for Core Service Settings.
  • You start a build of the image.
  • You run the DIR \release command to access the Release Directory.

In this scenario, you can access the Release Directory unexpectedly. You expect not to be able to access the Release Directory because you disabled the Enable access to desktop files setting.

Notes
  • This problem occurs for a debug or other Windows Embedded Compact 7-based image.
  • When you disable the Enable access to desktop files setting, you would expect that access to the Release Directory and to the Alternate Release Directory is disabled.
  • When you disable the Enable access to desktop files setting, remote tool connectivity is also disabled.
